Brutus & Barnaby recalls pig ear treats for dogs

Brutus & Barnaby of Clearwater, Fla., is recalling its Pig Ears 100% Natural Treats for Dogs because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.

The treats were distributed nationwide via Amazon.com, Chewy.com, and Brutusandbarnaby.com, as well as the company’s brick-and-mortar store in Clearwater. All package sizes (8, 12, 25 and 100 count) are included in the recall.

Pet owners should cease feeding all Brutus & Barnaby pig ears and destroy any remaining product. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 800-489-0970 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. Refund requests should be directed to the place of purchase.

Brutus & Barnaby is the latest company this summer that has recalled pig ears from the market due to potential Salmonella contamination. Other recalled pig ear products include varieties by Chef Toby, Lennox, and Pet Supplies Plus. In response, the FDA issued a consumer warning that urged pet owners to avoid pig ear treats.
